The Tauranga Civic Choir presents a concert of songs about the earth, sea and sky. The focus of the programme is Songs of the Fleet, a cycle of five songs using the text of poems by Henry Newbolt, set to music for baritone and choir by Charles Villiers Stanford. The rest of the programme consists of short pieces ranging from folk songs to spirituals to classical and contemporary works.
Our guest musical director for this concert is Fergus Byett, and we’re accompanied by a chamber orchestra, and guest organist Matthew Howes from Auckland.
Tickets are only $20. School children are free (but need a ticket for seating purposes).
