An Exhibition by Areena Smith.
“Mata Hou” is the ever-present realisations of lifelong connection, responsibility and commitment to protect and enhance the next generation. Navigating expansive and ever-changing tidal shifts of motherhood, the first breath of life brings a new dawn, a new way of life and a recollection of stored genetic data to be shared again with the world. Whakapapa brings life and to life, we bring Whakapapa.”
Acrylic on 2D embossed wallpaper Hineteiwaiwa helps weave the connection between a Māmā and pēpi, merging Te Ao Wairua and Te Ao Marama.
Officially opening on Friday 25th October at 5.30pm alongside other exhibitions in The Incubator Creative Hub.
The exhibition will be on display at Okorore Ngā Toi Māori Gallery and Studios from 26th of October to 17th of November – Wednesdays to Saturdays 11am to 2.30pm.
