Ukutangi Wānanga for Tamariki
WHENUA. HAU. ORO.
From earth, through breath, into sound.

Come and create your own ukutangi from uku (clay) in this hands-on wānanga for tamariki. Through creativity, kōrero and play, we’ll explore the connection between whenua, hau (breath), oro (sound) and hauora (wellbeing).

Tamariki will shape and decorate their own ukutangi, then learn how to bring their taonga to life through their breath. Playing the ukutangi naturally encourages tamariki to slow down and become aware of their breathing, offering a gentle way to experience how their breath can help them find calm and settle big emotions.

Recommended ages: 6–10 years
Cost: Koha
Whānau: Please stay with your tamariki during the wānanga. You are welcome to leave once your tamariki have completed their taonga.
