PROFILE

Grow On Katikati

  • Object & Craft

We are a community-led food resilience project and we encourage locals to grow kai in their backyard. We provide seeds, seedlings and skills.

Our workshops are around creative ways to preserve food excess, how to paint garden signs to brighten up your garden space, creating a spiral herb garden, ways to reduce waste by upcycling, composting etc., and how to grow kai in limited space. We show inspirational movies, host a monthly Crop Swap to encourage sharing of excess produce, and other workshops like how to make awesome bug motels plus much more!

We are always looking at ways to encourage people to get creative in their garden space and to be inspired while growing food. We run a children’s gardening club, encouraging children to look at growing in a creative and appealing way in order to develop a life-long love of gardening.

If you are interested in growing food resilience in your backyard and don’t know quite where to begin, come down and see us in action. We open a small garden shed beside Katikati Community Centre, 45 Beach Road, Katikati, or follow us on our socials or check out our website for more information.

We are always welcoming volunteers to help out in a myriad of little ways.
