Tēnā koutou, ko Kathleen tāku ingoa.
I run a small headwear apparel business with an infusion of Māori culture and NZ fashion expressed through modern design. Using the resources here in Aotearoa and providing high quality apparel to New Zealanders, by offering a product that holds longevity and supports our kiwi businesses, and reinventing the fashion industry that has given way to fast fashion and mass overseas production. I am of Te Atiawa and Ngai Tahu descent and have been practising visual art and fashion design for 20 years. I collaborated in Te Whare Tangata the female essence exhibition in Tauranga, and feature on several of Ngai Tahu’s Te Panui Runaka covers.
In 2018 I graduated with my Bachelors in Creative Industries here in Tauranga. I received a special commendation award from Tauranga Art Gallery for my body of work at the graduate exhibition, exhibited ‘Te hā ō Waitaiki’ for the 2019 Waitangi weekend at the Incubator, and my latest venture ‘LOVSCH’ head wear apparel.
