Hi, we are the Te Puke Art Society. We are a bunch of friendly painters and quilters/sewers/craft people, who paint or sew together once a week. The whole point of our group is to have fun and enjoy each other’s company, as we do something we enjoy together, creating our works of art. Sewers are on a Tuesday 9.30 am till 2.30 pm. Painters are on a Thursday, 9.00 am till mid to late afternoon. We do stuff throughout the year, such as an exhibition showing member’s work, which lasts a week, an outing or social event, tutorials from professional tutors and artists, and a Christmas party. We showcase someone’s work for a month, and they are allocated a wall space. We have morning teas together. All new members are welcome, with any level of ability. It is not about how good you are, but it is about enjoying yourself. We have a Facebook page called Te Puke Art Group, where we post events and workshops, and showcasing, or anything else that members want to post. Our artworks are hung on the walls and in the windows of Constable’s Gallery, and is open to the public to come in and have a look. Please come and join us if you are interested. You will be very welcome.

WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE

We get in professional tutors and artists once or twice a year to teach us whatever subject members are interested in learning or doing. Occasionally we apply for funding, which helps with the financial side of these tutorials. The tutorials are either for a day or a weekend. Subjects may include oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, portraits, drawing, mixed media, animals, florals, and any other interesting subject.
