Founded in October 2013, The Incubator Creative Hub is an ever evolving multi-faceted, edgy and empowering community of creative people, all working to enrich and refresh the arts culture within the Bay of Plenty.
We know without a doubt that art is empowering for the mind, body and soul. It is a universal language that connects the community.
The Incubator is a unique venue for a wide spectrum of arts and events. It also provides a dynamic and holistic network to motivate, inspire and teach and a vibrant and accessible platform for community arts, arts education, performances and exhibitions.
The Incubator – Gallery and Studios
The Incubator Gallery presents a vibrant exhibition programme profiling emerging and established artists that are both nationally and locally recognised. The individual cubicles of The Incubator Studios provide professional arts practitioners with a platform for a personal space to research and create their individual works in an inclusive, supportive and connected environment.
The Artery – Art Learning Space
An inclusive art education space offering a range low cost creative workshops that are accessible for anyone in our community. Different levels of experience are catered for from beginner to advanced. Bite sized opportunities are delivered for the public to not only follow their dreams and passion for various art forms but increase wellbeing and connectedness without cost or time restraints being a barrier.
Nothing brings people together like music. That is why we provide the platform for an ever-developing programme of learning, expression and performance. We connect musicians of every skill level and genre to the residents of the Western Bay of Plenty and beyond. Committed to building social connections and cultural diversity through music we provide the space, the team and enthusiastic audience.
The People’s Gallery – Toi ka rere
Tauranga’s own regional community gallery, The People’s Gallery – Toi ka rere provides an important and exciting visual platform in which community groups within the Bay of Plenty region can display and promote their diverse range of creative talents. The supported exhibition programme enables our locals to have a voice – one which will be heard and shared widely across the Bay of Plenty region.
Satellite Studios – artists exchange
Through our artist exchange programme, we can integrate fresh new ideas and skills into our region. The resident artist will teach, mentor and exhibit to our local creative community, groups, schools and other creative agencies. The studios hum with the activities of professional creative practitioners, who make their studios and time available to the visiting public, allowing a peek into the unique industry associated with the arts.
Driven by a passion for supporting the growth of Māori art and design, the Incubator Creative Hub is honoured to present the Nga Toi Māori artist studios, indigenous resident artist exchange programme and small heritage display space.
Employing creative activity as a means of storytelling and connecting and to support Māori artists to collaborate with international indigenous artists creates opportunities to exchange ideas, artistic techniques and cultural practices. This in turn builds the capability of indigenous artists to help engage and collaborate with a global perspective.
