Kia ora!

My name is Anitarewa (Ngai Te Rangi, Ngati Ranginui). I am a Visual artist and creative from Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Industries from Toi-Ohomai Institute 2021 majoring in Visual Arts.

I enjoy working across many different mediums from mixed media and assemblage, painting, sculptural installation, photography and moving image.
My practice is primarily driven by materiality and I will often use found objects and materials as a starting point when formulating ideas. My work is also very process driven, where the ‘active’ part of making is also an important aspect.

On graduating from Toi-Ohomai I was awarded the Emerging Artist award by The Friends at the Tauranga Art Gallery and have also been given the opportunity to exhibit at The Tauranga Art Gallery which is showing 18 June – 16 Oct 2022.
