I am Constanza Briceño, abstract artist based in Papamoa.
I usually work with acrylics on canvas with a colourful palette. I really enjoy big sized canvas, but also mixed media on paper.
I was born in Santiago de Chile in 1979. My work has been shown in Buenos Aires, Santiago, Temuco, Valdivia, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Tauranga. In 2001, I obtained a Baccalaureate degree in Art from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Since then, I’ve been involved in different studios, group and solo exhibitions.
My work has been inspired by a handwritten calligraphy notebook from my childhood, it aims to show the beauty of the mistake, to explore repetition and process. Freed from seeking perfection, I create asymmetrical structures across the canvas. In a methodical disorder, this structures often recall known landscapes and experiences.
My last group show was “Do you see what I see” at Macandmor Gallery (Tauranga / 2019) along with five abstract artists, and my last solo show was “Writing exercises” at The Incubator in (Tauranga / 2016)
You can find my work at the following galleries:
- Macandmor Art (Space Goddard Centre, Devonport Rd. Tauranga)
- Imprint Gallery (Historic Village, Tauranga)
- Mobile Art Gallery (Zone 23, G01/23 Edwin St, Mt Eden. Auckland)
