Kia ora, my name is Ellie and I’m an art historian and writer. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Classical Studies from the University of Auckland and am currently a Master of Arts candidate in Museum Studies at Massey University. I have worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Tauranga Art Gallery and Baycourt Community and Arts Centre, in a range of roles from Curatorial Intern to Community Engagement Coordinator. I have had experience in exhibition preparation, funding, registrar duties, events and public programmes.
I have a huge passion for exhibition curation, art education, public programmes and community engagement within the arts. I have always enjoyed spending my time in museums and galleries ever since I was a little girl, but the older I get, the more I realise the importance of these spaces within a community.
I have recently taken on some freelance project work and writing, which I’ve really enjoyed the creative freedom of. Recently, I have acted as project assistant and the lead contributing writer for City Art Walk, a new initiative shining a light on Tauranga’s public artworks.
I am always open for collaborations or opportunities in curation, art research, writing and talks and tours. I also have seminars on the looting of art during World War II and the highlights of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and I am always open to the opportunity to deliver them again.
