Kia ora 🙂
We’re Glenda and Sonny, a mother and daughter weaving team based in Tauranga and Whakatāne, working together from our home gallery and studio, The Fibre Room.
Our creative practice spans tukutuku, kākahu, sculpture, whatu, and raranga. We work primarily with harakeke, drawing on natural materials and Māori fibre traditions to create both functional and expressive pieces. Glenda brings decades of experience and a bold, contemporary style influenced by her work in floristry and community arts. Sonny focuses on traditional forms, neutral tones, and storytelling through fibre.
We currently offer workshops in tukutuku and harakeke paper making and are working on more ideas. We welcome visitors to The Fibre Room by appointment. Our work is also available online, and we’re always open to collaborations and creative connections.
