Hi, I’m Jillian and I teach cello to all sorts of people.
If you want to learn a new skill, do some active relaxation, and achieve what you want at your own pace – maybe learning the cello is for you.
Music is a wonderful thing to have as part of your life. It also provides an opportunity for lifelong learning.
I am an experienced teacher, having taught for 24 years. I am encouraging, supportive, and above all, patient.
I teach from my house at the Mount. Lessons are 30 minutes to start with, and $30, during school terms. You will need to commit to practicing in between lessons, ideally most days. You will also need a cello. These can be hired online.
Lesson times vary during the day, from 11 – 6 Tuesday to Saturday.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at jillianrcarey@gmail.com.
Testimonials
Jillian is an excellent teacher and makes lessons very enjoyable. She sets challenges that are reachable and revisits skills frequently until they are secure. I rarely leave a lesson without feeling inspired to get started practicing again.
– Susan
As an adult student who is returning to playing after many years of not playing I have found Jillian to be patient and encouraging as well as very adaptable to my schedule. She is always very organised and punctual and proactive in finding pieces which I will enjoy and opportunities to extend me by playing with others.
– Jackie
I really enjoy Jillian’s relaxed and flexible approach to repertoire to ensure sustained interest and enthusiasm. I have also noticed that Jillian has a particular gift in providing clear explanations of musical theory and playing technique; I wish all teachers had this skill!
