I am an exhibition curator, writer and consultant mainly working in contemporary craft, object and design, and with a special love of textile and fibre arts, which I studied at Goldsmiths College in London. I’ve worked with many artists and makers and with publicly funded, charitable and commercial visual arts and events organisations in the UK, Ireland and more recently in New Zealand.
At the heart of my work is the creation of stimulating and thought-provoking exhibitions and events, exploring ideas through skilled makers who engage with complex processes and challenging materials. I continually seek new contexts and venues to present the best of contemporary craft and design practice to the broadest possible audiences. Since 2018 I’ve curated exhibitions for The University of Waikato, Design & Crafts Council Ireland (in Dublin, Kilkenny and Barcelona), and in the UK for The 62 Group of Textile Artists, MAC Birmingham, and The Hub – National Centre for Craft & Design.
I write regular maker profiles for Embroidery magazine (UK) and essays for artist catalogues, and I am a Design & Crafts Council Ireland mentor. I also coach and run workshops around writing skills and financial literacy for creative practitioners.
I am also the part-time Development Manager for Design-Nation, a portfolio of contemporary designers and craftspeople in the UK who regularly exhibit at leading trade shows and public festivals. Since 2013 I’ve led this exciting organisation’s strategic exhibition projects and secured grants, sponsorship and support through major partnerships.
I was born in Auckland, spent my childhood in Christchurch and Wellington, and returned from the UK in 2019 to live in Tauranga Moana with my family.
