Kia ora!

I’m Lizzy Kula, an independent artist/musician. I was born in Malaysia and raised in the Mount. As a Sri Lankan/Chinese Malaysian who grew up Kiwi, it comes as no surprise that my sound spans an eclectic range of influences.

I began my music journey playing bass in jazz combos and soon developed a love for the art of telling stories through music. Inspired by the storytelling of Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers, and the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Ms Lauryn Hill, and Alanis Morissette, I tend to resist the urge to reside in just one style of music. I hope that the experiences heard in my songs might tell someone’s unheard story somewhere if not just my own.

I write and produce all of my work either independently or with my brother, Daniel Kulasingham, at his home studio. We have performed together live at two Summer Series gigs under the name Dizzie. We also produced my debut single, ‘i dreamt about you’ with the help of Alex Twidle of Depot Sound (MISSY, Becca Caffyn, Dead Favours) and Chris Chetland of Kog Studios (Dua Lipa, Lorde, Bebe Rexha).
