I am Mig McMillan and live in Cherrywood. I love painting – the fence, canvas, rocks, furniture, walls – ANYTHING! I also do cartoons, depicting middle-class socio-political anxiety, cards for ANY occasion (difficult or celebratory), and theatre reviews. Outside our house is a colourful fence and a “What’s in the Box” box containing temporary art corresponding to current events.
I discovered the “doing of art “ at teacher’s college in Palmerston North, under the brilliant tutelage of Paul Dibble. Prior to that I was lucky enough to have been born into a huge extended family of appreciators as well as a smattering of relations painting, making films and creating music.
I hold exhibitions in my garden, post my work on Facebook and change my “What’s in the Box” and blackboard cartoon exhibits frequently – look out for them when you are next in Cherrywood. If you would like to commission a cartoon, reach me on Facebook.
