We are MITA Creative. Our name is a word play on our names (Mihikeita & Tahu-Pōtiki), and we’re a pakihi Māori with two main functions.

We bring te ao Māori to the forefront of projects and ideas through graphic design, illustration and social media services. We also create mahi toi, taputapu Māori, rauemi reo and digital resources as a result of passion, purpose, and values, coming together to move our small whānau forward.

As a small whānau and pakihi, our values are rooted in whakapapa, te reo Māori, auahatanga, and kaitiakitanga. As self-taught digital creatives, we use these values to guide us in the running of our kaupapa and in anticipation of any future opportunities – however, our qualifications across health, environmental management, and Māori visual art build a great foundation to approach our creative endeavours with a social impact perspective.

With that in mind, we are open to working with individuals, groups, organisations, kaupapa and pakihi looking for creative graphic and illustrative support from two Māori artists that are both parents and speakers of te reo Māori. Our creative supports are especially attuned to servicing kaupapa surrounding te reo Māori, whakapapa, Matariki, health and wellbeing, and equity. This has meant we’ve worked on projects ranging from branding and publication design, to illustrating children’s books and most recently, the HIKUROA board game for te reo Māori.
