Hi! I’m Sophie-Maude and I am a 19 yr old singer/song writer born here in Tauranga.
I have been singing since I began being home schooled at the age of 10. My first introduction to performing was through musical theatre and I got no end of joy watching people enjoying the performances we gave.
Some say I am quirky in nature and, to be honest, they are not wrong! I am proud to say that I live life on the Autistic Spectrum and some of the co morbid bits that come with that. Despite having some challenges, it makes me who I am creatively. No two performances are ever the same and I live to engage with my audience, whatever the occasion, both on and off stage.
I have an awesome manager and mumager who take care of the business side of things and an amazing new band that have been supporting me on my journey to date.
My drummer is Nic Martin who is better known as the drummer for Devilskin and my guitarist/bass Ian Pirrie and Andy Flinn both live in Rotorua and are well respected musicians. Scott Braid has been my patient vocal coach since day 1.
I released my first song on Spotify in 2020 and now have six songs of my own as well as two that I featured for – Diamonds for Mount based artist Shelton Woolwright (Deadbeat) and more recently A Perfect Storm for Blindspott. In June 2022, my release Take Me Away reached No.1 in The NZ Hot New Single Charts and was played on ZM’s playlist.
I have enjoyed an array of performance experiences over the last few years, from weddings to a funeral. From my own gigs to opening for both Hollie Smith and Prinz.
I had my first taste of sining in the Corporate World at the International Business Awards. The highlight for me though, was appearing at Aucklands Coca Cola Christmas in the Park.
I am always looking for ways to become more involved in the industry and am keen to meet other artists/song writers as well as being available for bookings.
