Sain baina uu, I’m Ulemj a self- taught artist originally from Mongolia, who landed on the beautiful shores of New Zealand nearly 20 years ago. After experiencing various cultures and learning a number of languages I studied education and linguistics. Art and fashion however have always been in the core of my being and over time I came to realise that they are my true medium of expression.

I enjoy exploring the boundless potential of mixed media, embracing the intricacy and depth that layering brings to my work. More recently, I have been experimenting with charcoal, ink and other mediums to capture the depth and complexity of the human experience and the natural world. Drawing inspiration from my travels and personal encounters, I am often drawn to the complex, raw emotions etched into the faces of individuals, and the beauty of landscapes that surround us.

I am happiest when I am creating and connecting with people through my art.
