Changes Ahead at Creative Bay of Plenty

The Board of Trustees of Creative Bay of Plenty has announced that General Manager Eric Holowacz, who joined the team after the May 2020 Covid lockdown, is concluding his role at the end of August 2021 to pursue a graduate degree in Creative Writing in 2022.

Over the past year, Eric has played a role in the development of the Regional Arts Network Aotearoa, secured new project funding from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, Creative New Zealand, and Mātātuhi Foundation, and partnered with Te Tuhi Mareikura Trust to successfully host a 2021 Māori Arts Internship.

The Board noted that Holowacz ability to forge new connections, partnerships, and marketing platforms helped the organisation remain strong and vibrant during the past year.

Eric, who lives in Ōhope and is also a literary artist, plans to return to graduate school next year to pursue a Masters in Creative Writing, and complete a new book of original poetry as well as a collection of foreign-language poems in translation. To continue his community service closer to his home, Holowacz is also standing for election to the Trust Horizon Energy Board and volunteering with the Eastern Bay of Plenty branch of the Coastal Recreation Trust.
