Creative Bay of Plenty is seeking assessors to support the delivery of the Creative Communities Scheme funding rounds in the Western Bay of Plenty district.
Creative New Zealand spends over $3.2 million each year supporting around 1,800 projects through the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS). Creative Bay of Plenty, on behalf of Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty Council, administers the CCS for our districts.
The scheme aims to increase participation from the local community in the arts sector, support the diversity of local cultural traditions and encourage and engage young people to participate in local arts. The term ‘arts’ is broadly defined to mean all forms of creative and interpretative expression.
What’s involved:
The assessors judge applications against a range of criteria, with funding distributed by Creative Bay of Plenty on behalf of Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
The time commitment is an assessment panel meeting twice a year to meet with applicants and time spent reading and assessing applications. The work is voluntary and takes approximately one full day for assessment and one evening for panel meetings for each funding round.
The funding is distributed on a pro rata basis against the district’s population. Applications cross the whole spectrum of arts and culture, however only non-commercial projects are eligible.
Ideal candidates:
Diversity in terms of age and ethnicity is integral to the success of assessment panel decisions. Ideal candidates will also possess some of the following attributes:
- Understand effective governance procedures and processes.
- Live in the Western Bay of Plenty district.
- Know what’s happening in the community and arts locally.
- Have experience in one or more artforms.
- Have specific cultural knowledge.
How to apply:
If you are interested in applying, send a short resume and covering letter explaining your reasons for wanting to become an assessor to annie@creativebop.org.nz by Friday 10 July 2020. You can also contact Annie if you have any questions about the role or application process.
