Tauranga City Council is upgrading Waitaha Reserve in Welcome Bay, including enhancements to the playground, basketball court, and skate park. As part of this revitalisation, TCC are seeking artists to design and paint murals on the existing skatepark walls and a new mini skate ramp, set to be installed in early 2025.
The goal is to create a mural that inspires and empowers the next generation of female skateboarders, challenging traditional narratives and fostering inclusion, diversity, and community. Artists are encouraged to interpret the themes freely, with preference given to those connected to Welcome Bay.
