We are a group of artists of all abilities who come together each week to practice, share and learn about art.

The Omokoroa Artists Group is a collaborative membership community for adults to develop their artistic skills. Artists using various mediums gather each week in a friendly social space to draw, paint, sculpt and create their own art projects. In doing so, members can learn from and be inspired by others. Tea and coffee are provided.

We have a variety of ways to encourage members to develop their skills. The group has a library of art books and resources, including easels. We set optional monthly fun challenges, whereby artists create works according to a given theme. When displaying works to each other, we can ask for feedback to help improve our skills. We also reach out to other artists to run workshops exclusively for our members.

Each year we run a large art exhibition to display and sell artworks to the public. Usually, over Labour Weekend, this expo is an excellent opportunity to engage with the community and showcase local art and artists.

The Omokoroa Artists Group encourages adults from our community to try out art by offering regular “Have a Go” art workshops. This is a great way to encourage people to try out art and perhaps become new members of our group. These public workshops are advertised on our Facebook page and in local newspapers.

As a members’ group, the Omokoroa Artists Group charges a small annual membership subscription and a small weekly fee when attending our meetings. Benefits include discounts on local art retailers and the option to display and sell works at our annual expo.

Meeting location: Settlers Hall, Omokoroa
Weekly meeting times: Wednesdays,10.30 am – 3.30 pm.
