My name is Dom and I’m a ceramic artist. I have a background in graphic design and children’s book illustration, and a lifelong passion for arts and crafts.

I started doing pottery about four years ago and now have a studio in The Pot House at the Tauranga Historic Village as part of The Incubator Creative Community. The Pot House Gallery features work by about twenty different potters in the Bay of Plenty.

I love the tactile and meditative process of working with clay and the often unpredictable results. I like to create vessels and sculptures that are quirky and eccentric, that invite you to laugh at yourself and the world. My vessels often have many legs, tentacles or spikes; and I love to use anthropomorphism to create weird and wonderful chimaera-like creatures.

I was selected as a finalist in the 2023 Portage Awards and have had two solo exhibitions. I have also been an assistant tutor at the Bethlehem pottery club and run occasional workshops for The Incubator.
