Kia ora, I’m an abstract artist living in Tauranga. My work is underpinned by a deep inner connection to my own identity. I am recurrently curious about myself and the world around me. I grew up on a generational farm surrounded by bush and nestled beside the beautiful Whanganui River. I also draw from years of Spiritual Qi Gong practice and am influenced by my love of nature, deep ancestral roots and passionate curiosity about people, colour, texture and the depth of art, life and all there is.

My practice begins with meditation and then moves to an undercoat of watered down acrylic of which the colour has emotional representation. My tool of choice is an offset spatula which I use to spread, mix and make marks with acrylic paint on canvas. I work intuitively with myself and clients, listening to classical music, researching and reflecting thoughts and concepts as they arise. When I create pieces for other people, it’s about a deep connection to the space the piece will sit in, the power that artwork has to shape a space and to impact on the people viewing it.

I’m inspired to learn and research art particularly the Abstract Expressionism era and the artists of that time. In 2024, I completed the Certificate of Creativity Level 4 with The Learning Connexion where I gained courage, confidence and skills to get started on my artistic career where I am otherwise self taught.
