KIRST THE ARTIST

Based in Waihi Beach, I create work that spreads positive and tropical vibes through painting and illustrations.

I prefer to work in a large scale which lead me to the creation of multiple murals and printing on fabric.

Birds are my favourite subject with their colourful feathers and cheeky attitudes.

Working in a bright and vibrant colour pallete, my main aim is to make people smile, be drawn to the colour and patterns and be taken away from the mundane in daily life for just a moment.

I also created Chur Aotearoa, a small lifetsyle apparel brand, when living in Rotorua (my birthplace) as part of the Mountain Biking community.  The word ‘Chur’ means a lot to kiwis and in Rotorua is used to say so many things.  It seemed really fitting to call the brand something that so many identified with.  In the Mountain Bike industry there is alot of dark coloured technical clothing but the community in Roto were crying out for street wear they could ride in and then shoot to the pub or on with their day.  My creative skills mixed with local enthusium meant Chur Aotearoa was born and the forest became a little more colourful and comfortable with a range of hoodies and tees that encorporated some of my digital illustrations.
