I’m a painter and printmaker based in Pukehina Beach, Aotearoa New Zealand, where I work from my coastal studio, Voilà | Art & Atelier.

Living beside the ocean deeply shapes my practice. The shifting relationship between light, sea, and sky, along with quiet walks and moments of observation, often become the starting point for my work. The ocean also holds personal meaning for me — it connects the two homelands that have shaped my life, Canada and Aotearoa, and feels like a quiet thread running through both my journey and my work.

My work explores emotional responses to place rather than literal depictions of landscape. Through expressive painting, cyanotypes, and mezzotints, I’m drawn to capturing fleeting impressions — the atmosphere, movement, and memory that shape how we experience familiar environments. I’m less interested in documenting what a place looks like and more interested in conveying the feeling of being within it.

I’m currently studying toward a Bachelor of Māori and Indigenous Art at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. This journey has become a deeply meaningful immersion in culture, identity, and creative practice. It continues to shape how I see the world and supports my exploration of belonging and connection as I find my own tūrangawaewae.

For many years I worked as a commercial photographer, photojournalist, and later as a branding and marketing strategist and web project manager. Now, releasing myself to fully commit to art, I’m grateful to spend my days with a paintbrush or baren in hand.

Alongside my own practice, I teach art to children and host relaxed creative gatherings for adults in my studio. My focus is on building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and creating spaces where people can experiment, connect, and rediscover the simple joy of making.
