Kia ora,

My name is Marino Joy Magee and I create art. My mediums are raranga (weaving with flax), painting, murals, Māori design, and occasional woodworking. I create art for the people and because I enjoy the process of making something new.

I was born and raised in Athenree (Pawharangi), and I am now living at the Mount, where I also create my mahi. I studied raranga and Māori toi at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and was a self taught weaver prior to my studies.

My proudest achievements so far are painting a mural for a local native tree planting company in Katikati called Project Parore, weaving a ten metre wall hanging for the new Waihī Beach Library, and creating a multicoloured wahine piupiu.
