Meet our new trustees

Creative Bay of Plenty is pleased to welcome three new trustees to our board, each of whom bring a valuable wealth of knowledge and experience.

Jay Tihema has a diverse background in career and community development, collaborating across organisations to create opportunities for youth. He has worked in education, industry, and local government and serves on multiple trusts and community groups with a mission to foster creativity and transform education. In his free time, he enjoys creating art, music, and exploring hip-hop culture with his kids.

Jennie Halliday brings a unique blend of creative arts experience, with a BA in theatre and MFA in film/video from Columbia College Chicago. She later pursued an MAAT from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design and is now a clinical arts therapist in Tauranga Moana, New Zealand. Jennie is dedicated to enhancing mental health through arts participation and advocating for inclusive spaces that address barriers faced by individuals with mental health challenges and trauma, aiming to promote holistic well-being (mind, body, and spirit).

Marama Rice brings a dynamic range of experience to the Creative Bay of Plenty Board of Trustees. Her background in hospitality, tourism, entertainment, finance, and education, coupled with a successful career as a vocalist, entertainer, and songwriter, adds a creative dimension to the board. Her commitment to cultural appreciation, demonstrated through involvement with a Marae-based bilingual early childhood education center, enriches the organisation’s diversity-focused initiatives.
