Jacki Barklie artist has opened her studio, a space large enough to share with other artists/creative practitioners to showcase/exhibit their work.

This unique industrial studio has been thoughtfully designed to create a space that is malleable making it a multi-purpose arena for a variety of artisans to utilise. Rent a wall, rent a movable wall, rent a photography corner or rent the space for a fashion show/event etc. No matter how big or how small the project, the ideas are endless. Our vision for Back Studio is to add to the vibrancy in the arts of Tauranga.
Together we can create an energy in the studio making it an exciting place where artists and creators of multimedia/mixed mediums can meet and collaborate. A place where like-minded people can brainstorm fresh new ideas. A space that will showcase/exhibit art and the creative process. A destination where events expose the public to a visual extraordinaire; an exciting place, filled with colour, art and innovative ideas. A space that touches the senses.
Hi there, my name is Jacki Barklie, I am a full-time artist. I have been painting and exhibiting for over 20 years. After 37 years of hairdressing in my own hairdressing salons, I decided it was time to fill my need to explore art further.
I looked at all the art courses that were available to me. I decided to get a degree in Creative Industries at Toi Ohomai Institute Of Technology. The leadership of this 3-year degree was amazing. The tutors were experts in their own fields as well as practicing their crafts. One of the best things I did! I was a mature student and was astounded that at my age there was still room to grow, not only in the creative industry but in personal growth as well.
Two and a half years down the track, my vision has come to fruition.
